[Melanie isn't sure why she feels the need to post to the network, it is't generally something she does a lot. Although, she doesn't do a lot of things a lot, so maybe that isn't the best way to judge anything at all.

Still. She usually has a real purpose when she comes on this thing, but she just feels like she should... share, somehow.]

We're all stuck in this awful fuckery together, right? So, let's get to know each other a little better, two truths and a lie style, eh? I'll kick us off.

[Absolutely nothing in her tone tips off anything about which one may or may not be the lie-- her tone is neutral through each one.]

One: I had a successful career as a YouTuber for years.
Two: I've been possessed by a violence ghost.
Three: I was in dance until I was fourteen.

[At first, there's no video, just a simple audio message with the intones of one rather pleased Brit.]

Well, I'll give the government here this much: They are doing more than I expected to help me out, where it's really needed.

[Now, the video cuts on to Melanie sitting with a golden lab-retriever. He is sitting right at her side, tail wagging and nudges her hand with his head.

She grins and continues-- ]

This is Max, and he's meant to be my guide dog rather soon. There's still a few weeks yet before he can come home with me, he's got a bit more training to finish up. Then they said they'll coach me in what he can do and help with and the like, too, but--

[She's smiling, a true, genuine thing that she's not sure the last time her face managed with any real meaning. She scratches between the dog's ears lightly.]

If today's any indication, I think we're gonna be a good fit.

[She doubts anyone besides her will actually care about this, but she was just... happy about it, and she hadn't been happy about much of anything in longer than she wants to consider and it was nice, and the kind of thing that's easily shared.]

[ The Aussie accent comes through pretty clearly but she sounds like she's in a pretty good mood, in spite of the news. That's largely because she is in a good mood and she's trying not to let the news ruin it. ]

Right, so I've done a bit of research and I'm just curious if there's anyone here who's actually good at this sort of thing that might be able to weigh in. If I'm putting together an online store and I want it to be a legitimate business, but the product is just essentially knickknacks, is Etsy a poor choice? Should I lean into Squarespace or Wix or something?

[ Ben's here, so she's just going to settle in and make her life here and hope to hell neither of them is lost to the ether again. While Rikki absolutely still misses her father, and of course she misses Carol, Jane, and other friends she'd made while living in Jeopardy, she's got Ben and Klaus and that's a lot more than she had back home after her friends went off to uni.

So, sure, she might be rushing a bit to roll out the business, but she's got a stipend here and the profit margin is still 100%, so how hard can it be to just set up the website and worry about the advertising and marketing later? ...Christ, she hopes there's someone like Rupert around to help her with that bit eventually... Sooner rather than later would be good. ]

In other news, am the only Aussie here?

[ Chloe had been Aussie as well, back in Jeopardy (although, she never did end up meeting that woman and she still doesn't know which Porter city she'd been in), so she might as well check. ]

Only I found some TimTams on Amazon and I'm wondering whether they're legitimate TimTams and I thought I'd see if anyone else wanted to try them out with me when they come in. Plus, you know, it'd be nice to meet another person from my country when I'm being jostled around different versions of this one. No offense, but I'm still not impressed with it.

Video;
[ The video comes up and the sound of waves crashing on the beach are sounding behind him. The sun is starting to peek up over the horizon, painting the sky with soft pinks and oranges. If he shifts the camera a little lower when his arm tires slightly from being lifted toward his face and one is paying enough attention, they might notice that he's sweaty and not wearing a shirt, if his bare shoulders are any indication.

He's on his morning run, but he's sort of made it a habit to read the news while he's running, since it's kind of convenient to do so with this bracelet thing, as it turns out. He just sets it to be read aloud from the internet and it goes straight into his earbuds which, for the record, are still in his ears, wireless with small stems hanging from his ears.

Derek's expression is drawn, brows creased in the center and a frown on his face. ]

Call me paranoid, but is anyone else finding the lead story on the news to be incredibly problematic for so, so many reasons? Or is it just me? I'm assuming you guys have seen this?

Group Text to Laura & Diego;
I know you might not have to worry about this part, Diego, but the thing that caught my attention was the hypnotic tone. Do you guys think that's literal? Like an actual sound? Because if that's the case, Laura and I are really screwed...

[ It's almost definitely not a secret to Diego by this point that Laura is Derek's older, dead sister; the one from the train. She's already heard plenty about him. This is Derek's way of forcing his tiny pack into official existence; he's asking Diego for help without actually having it in him to come out and say "we might need your help." ]

So, since the welcome wagon isn't telling me anything, I figure why not ask who might know better. You.

[ On the screen? Looks like someone right out of an action video game. Not much going on by way of weapons though that you can see. It's not a space suit but it's...definitely armor of some sort. She hasn't changed since she got here. She's walking in some kind of hurry, maybe even in frustration, anxiousness. ]

Where can I find off world transport? Asking for a friend.

[ Not entirely a lie. ]

And don't tell me this world is unincorporated. Because this is not where I bedded down last night.

[ Oh, no, that's entirely frustration. ]

[ The feed clicks on awkwardly, someone behind it is uneasy and wondering if he's talking to a single person, or many at once. It was difficult to know. Perhaps this was like...er, Snapchat, or Facebook Live from home. Apps he'd never used before (for obvious reasons) but heard about; public broadcasts, etc. So he speaks with some sort of confidence. It's not exactly from using smart phone apps though. ]

Uh, hi. If you're listening and you're new here, I'd like to a pose a question. You don't have to answer, I'm just...looking for advice, broadening my perspective.

So if you're a super, you show up, and the first thing they do is ask you to register. You did that. What's your experience been like so far? Do you remember anything they told you, did you agree to anything extra, or something?

I know the first and biggest incentive is housing, money, et cetera. Financial security, assistance. That's incredibly alluring and I imagine the reason most of us signed. I don't blame you. I'm just not so sure that it's worth it, or if I'm waiving certain rights being...well, being by definition, a refugee of an unusual circumstance.

Either way. If you have any unusual experiences or special circumstances other than the obvious, I'd like to hear about them, if you're willing to share. I'm trying to weight the pros and the cons here before I sign anything with certainty. I'm also a bit at a disadvantage due to...certain conditions. I just want to be sure I'm not being taken advantage of. That's all.

Thanks for your time.

Intern? It's like this all knowing government doesn't know anything. Intern.

[the image flickers a moment and the image of a bearded man appears. He looks annoyed, but he also looks like he's tinkering on something on a desk before him.]

So, here we are, on a different dimension, in a different time, expected to live our lives like normal. That doesn't sit well with me. Who else isn't exactly thrilled to be here, because I'm lacking in thrill for this place.

First order of business, find a better job. This one is almost insulting. Barely here four days and I've pissed off the other interns. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

[A spark comes from whatever he's working on. and he hisses, flicking his hand a moment and bringing a finger up to suck on the knuckle. He sighed, and dropped his hand again.]

I'll need parts. Looking for a junk yard near by. I've got some things I need to build to move on up in this Earth Whatever number it is.

[A pause, and he looks at the video, eyeing it, before saying]

If any Avengers are around, speak up. We've got some things to discuss.
