Mirror;Open to Portal Team
[The view, at first, is lovely; the mirror shows the scenery of the city's skyline with a glittering ocean beyond from a high vantage point.]
Give me a moment.
[The mirror moves a little until it's turned to show Sirius where he's leaning back against his bike, obviously on a rooftop somewhere as he digs around in his pockets for his cigarettes. The mirror is floating in place on its own and he looks better than he has in his past messages; the shadows beneath his eyes aren't as dark, and his smile comes easier when he finally finds the smokes.]
There we are. Salutations, my good lads and ladies. I do hope that this message finds you all well.
[He lights a cigarette and takes a deep drag before exhaling into the warm air, sitting back on the motorbike with comfortable ease.]
Things have calmed down, but let's not get too comfortable, hmm? There's still work to do, and we need to talk about it. I'm sure you're all aware of what has happened, for those of you who aren't let me bring you up to speed, as they say.
[There's a thoughtful sigh and a contemplative stare into the distance.]
Apparently there was a bit of a corn creeper sneaking about, drugging festival goers and children. As can be expected from someone with a predilection for creeping in corn, I suppose. Anyway, [he waves his hand dismissively,] we got him. The interesting part is this; the drug that was being used was supposedly an experimental one developed by, guess who? HERO Labs, that's right, bully for you. HERO Labs, who paid the madman to use it. I'm not saying this to make anyone panic, but for the sake of transparency, our little maze gremlin suggested that the experimental drug has been used before in the lab, particularly as a sedative. And isn't that convenient, considering one of the very few things we all have in common is that we simply showed up here without remembering how.
So. [Sirius sighs before placing his cigarette between his lips to hang and sliding one hand into his pocket. For a moment he stares down at the roof he's on, thinking and conflicted, until he looks back up with a frown.]
I think that we've finally reached it. We're going to have to report this to an outside source, I'm just not particularly sure who. We've been throwing around theories, I'm still quite convinced that there are members of the fuzz involved. Not all of them, mind you, but at least a few. Enough to brush the local attacks under the rug, so to speak, and to try and silence the story our fairy drug mother provided. We've spoken about the possibility of the lab being involved as well and this nearly confirms it for me. But perhaps you're all feeling a bit more cautious.
Either way. [Another drag, another exhale, and another frown.] We simply don't have the authority to take care of this ourselves and we have to try to keep our noses as clean as possible. Our reputation with the local population is finally improving and continuing that trend is in all of our best interests. My thought on the matter is, we can either go to the fuzz, hope that the person we're reporting to doesn't have a distaste for the displaced. We could go directly to the Appeal, let the story hit the public first before it can get smothered. But that's all I have.
[His attention turns back to the mirror and he gives a one shouldered shrug.] It's not a decision to be made by a select few of us, but all of us. I'm here for your thoughts. So, thoughts?

Corn creeper and maze gremlin? Are those technical terms, sweetie, or...?
( She sobers herself and nods a little. )
I vote we go to the Appeal. Specifically, I vote that we reach out to whoever E. Worthington is. They were the one who wrote all the stories of the missing people and it's the first time I'd seen any positive spin at all in reference to us. I think we should tip off Worthington and see if they dabble in investigative reporting...and here's why: if the media breaks a story about corruption, it forces their hand to suss out the bad apples and give them the boot to avoid further negative press.

[His smile is dry but genuine enough, and he nods in agreement with Lydia's thought process, particularly pleased that she gives him a name to work with.]
My thoughts exactly. If the public knows then they won't have a choice but to take it seriously, lest their precious locals turn against them. That's never been particularly good for authority in my experience. I just want to make sure that everyone is on the same page, wouldn't want to twist any knickers that don't need twisting and all that. There may be a few of us who aren't comfortable enough with the Appeal to trust it and I can't really blame them for that.

( That surprises a laugh out of her and she rolls her eyes, shaking her head. After a short pause, she continues, back to her serious tone. )
I'm about to say something that's probably going to come across as incredibly entitled and may possibly be wildly unpopular, but honestly?
I don't really care what anyone who wasn't attacked by a local and wasn't dragged by the Appeal wants. If the people who were attacked, which I think might just be me (although I was the luckiest), you, Klaus and Tony, and Sally and her old roommate who I don't even think is here anymore, and the people dragged in the paper (which I think might have really only been me, but please correct me if I'm wrong) are okay with going to the Appeal, then I think that's really all that matters.
( She shrugs. It does sound entitled and she knows it, but as far as she's concerned, if they're specifically going to the paper about those local attacks on Supers, she doesn't really see why anyone who wasn't affected should get a say. )
That said, if even one of that group says no, then maybe we hold off and continue the discussion, but...
( Lydia shrugs again. )
That's just kind of where I stand, personally.

[Sirius does pause though, considering Lydia's position and how she feels, contemplating the possible outcomes with a small frown.]
My only concern is whether there's potential backlash upon the Super community as a whole depending on which way we go. If there is then this decision isn't just about us, but I can't see what sort of backlash could really be expected. I think we've handled the situation as well as we possibly could have so far.
