i'll meet you in the maze...
Between the three of them, Hermione is confident that the solutions they've come up with will be enough to get them through the maze safely. If they're especially lucky, they'll even manage to find something or someone. Things in Eglaf have been strained lately between the Supers and the locals and a part of Hermione is really hoping that if they can solve this corn maze mystery, then perhaps the locals will settle down and stop thinking of them as a threat or a drain on society. They can help. They want to help; at least the group working together to find the missing locals want to help. She can't really speak for the others, but she's certain she can speak for the group led by Allison Hargreeves, at least.
Dressed in raincoats and face protectors with glamor spells on them to make them appear like regular muggle clothes, Sirius, Hermione, and Remus make their way to the front of the line to enter the maze just before it closes for the evening.
Hermione feels like she's hyperaware of everything around her at the moment. After hearing what happened to Sirius in the maze the other day, she's glad that they've protected all of their exposed skin from getting wet with whatever it is that caused his hallucinations.
Flanked by Remus on one side and Sirius on the other as they move down the first aisle of the maze, Hermione finds herself thinking back on all the times she, Ron, and Harry went blindly into a dangerous situation ready to fight the good fight to protect one another and their school. As they grew older, protecting one another and the school eventually became protecting the wizarding world and, eventually, quite literally the whole world. The activity of the Death Eaters had even become a menace to the muggle world, as the war waged on.
This might be much smaller in scale at the moment, but it might not stay that way. It's time to put a stop to it.
Hermione looks to her left and then to her right, to the men on either side of her, and then in front of them, taking a slow, deep breath to center herself when they reach the first intersection. "Which way do we reckon?" she asks, mentally preparing herself. Once they get further inside, she just has to hope that the precautions they've taken are enough. They need to have their wits about them. Her heart is racing with anticipation and anxious energy. What if their charms don't work well enough to hide their raingear successfully? What if their raingear doesn't work the way it's supposed to and they wind up hallucinating as Sirius had done? What if they get separated and one or more of them go missing?
