Concern rises with spike in missing person reports

To date, a total of 17 missing person reports have been filed with the Eglaf Police Department since the opening day of Oktoberfest, less than one week ago. 12 have returned home safely, while five are still missing, including two suspected runaways initially reported missing Friday evening. Police now suspect the children may, in fact, be missing much like the rest.

On Monday morning, Sally Baker, owner of Main Street Apothecary, found five-year-old Emmaline Hoppins sleeping on the sidewalk in front of her store. "She was practically blue. I was afraid to touch her," said Baker. "I wasn't sure if she was alive."

Later Monday afternoon, Hoppins' missing great grandmother Stella Thompkins was also found by a group of coworkers leaving their office downtown.

Other than Baker, all parties declined to comment regarding the safe return of Hoppins and Thompson when the Appeal reached out.

Still missing are Michael Bishop (31), Jason Lameraux (24), Camden Myers (27), Lily Comey (9), Donna Camarillo (53), reported missing Saturday (Bishop, Lameraux, and Myers), Sunday (Comey), and Monday (Camarillo).

If you have any information on the whereabouts of any missing person, police urge you to call the Eglaf Police Department Tip Line at 1-800-626-HELP or 386-626-4357.
