Weekdays; OTA
Who: Spot & YOU
What: It's a repeat; Spot going about his day, plz interrupt him.
When: 24-26 August
Warnings: None currently, possible warnings for mentions of child abuse if Spot's past comes up
Where: High school, Happy Tails Animal Shelter, Soul Full Cup
Monday, outside the high school
Two weeks into school and he still hated everything about it. The catch up work hadn't been nearly enough to catch him up, and while he was rapidly becoming well aware that he needed someone like Lydia to help him, he didn't have the first idea how to approach something like that - how to not only admit he needed help, but also ask for it.
He wasn't already failing in every class - the history project on the late 19th century was particularly easy, for a start, and gym class was a breeze even for somebody as scrawny as him. Math was a mixed bag, but easier than he'd expected.
Science, however, was killing him - it made him feel stupid, and Spot did not like feeling stupid.
He got out of school after a particularly devastating pop quiz in biology with a thunderous scowl on his face.
Tuesday, Happy Tails Animal Shelter/park
It's easy to feel better about school when you're greeted by bright eyes and wagging tails once you're done for the day, and Spot is once again reminded that, actually, his job is one of the better things about this place.
Especially on days when he doesn't have any training sessions to do, and he's actually asked to take a few of the dogs on a walk instead. Four fairly large animals and one skinny teenager shouldn't be a recipe for success, but he's stronger than he looks so he's actually managing fairly well to keep the exuberant animals under control as he heads down to the park with them.
Wednesday, Soul Full Cup
A black coffee, that's what he's here for, it's been a long day and he needs a shot of caffeine and he can always put more sugar in it... but as he waits in the queue his eyes keep straying to that smores latte that Lydia got for him a couple of weeks back, and all he can think about is how good it tasted...
And, well, there's nobody here who knows who he is, right? He glances subtly around the coffee shop, checking for any familiar faces before deciding to hell with it, he wants that latte.

the park;
As part of their routine, Allison is at the park with the boys today, letting them enjoy the open space. While she has been able to make it work in the apartment, especially since they spend time with Klaus and Five as well, she’s sure that they miss having a garden to play in. The apartment building has open areas, but judging by how happy they seem as they walk, she can guess that they are enjoying this today, too.
During their walk, Allison sees the teenager with the four large dogs, and she gently tugs the leash so that Apollo and Zeus can let them pass by. She’s comfortable with how her boys behave and they’re very friendly, but she doesn’t want them to distract the other dogs.
“Cute dogs,” she projects, the thought ‘said’ before she could filter it. “Are they all yours?”
While Allison’s neck is no longer bandaged, the fresh new scar along her neck is visible; the only sign she has now that can give an idea as to why she’s not speaking.
Re: the park;
It's actually a good thing to see the other dogs, part of their training after all is staying obedient on the leash when there are other dogs are about, and they all seem to manage to make it past without too much fuss - at least until a voice that is not Spot's own is suddenly in his head and he's the one who stops abruptly to whip his head round in surprise.
The sudden stop was not expected by the dogs, who all keep walking and very nearly pull Spot off his feet until he manages to catch himself and pull them back. Thankfully they're obedient enough that they stop, though now they can't help but show an interest in the woman's dogs - which he doesn't mind so much when they're all stopped.
It must have been her that 'spoke', and it doesn't take him long to put the pieces together that she's displaced like him and that this is her power - or to realise that she's not speaking out loud because of that scar - but he's still a little startled by it. He's been here a little while now, but that doesn't mean he's totally used to the powers people have.
"Uh, no, none of them are actually, I work at the shelter."
no subject
"Sorry," she finally projects. "You alright?"
He had done a good job catching himself, and the dogs hadn't run off, but still. She feels bad about catching him by surprise, so she can't help but ask the question anyway.
"Ah, I see. Would...you like some help?"
no subject
Spot just shrugs off the apology - not in a mean way, more just dismissing its necessity. He appreciates it, though, since it's nice that she realises how startling her powers can be for someone who isn't expecting somebody else's voice in their head.
"I'm fine." he confirms.
He shakes his head at the offer of help, the dogs are trying to make friends with hers but none of them are so boisterous he's struggling to control them.
"It's okay I got them, they's pretty well trained."
no subject
"These two are pretty well behaved, so they'll be good. I think they just want to say hi. This is Apollo, and Zeus."
There's a small proud smile on her face as she says it, watching the way the boys interact.
"I'm Allison," she adds, turning back to him.

Spot's pretty pleased that the dogs are being so well behaved, they're clearly excited to make new friends but none of them are pulling too badly. He keeps half an eye on them to make sure they don't get their leashes tangled up around themselves (or each other), but so far so good.
"Cupcake, Samson, Alfie and Romeo," he introduces the dogs "I didn't name any of them."
Mostly he just wanted to make it clear he hadn't named a dog Cupcake.
"Spot. It's nice to meet you." He introduces himself, a little warily - Allison seemed nice, but 'I work with dogs and my name is Spot' is the kind of statement that usually earns a comment.
no subject
Turning back to him when he introduces himself, she smiles. "It's nice to meet you."
She really doesn't think anything of his name, either. Her original legal name was Number Three Hargreeves, after all. There's very little that can shock her when it comes to that.
"Are you one of the locals, or were you also transported here?"
no subject
Spot already suspects she's also one of the displaced given her ability, but the 'also' is the confirmation that he needs. For some reason he feels more comfortable around other people who have been dragged here against their will, although most of the people he meets haven't deal with quite so much of a change as he has, they still understand far better than the locals do.
"No I'm not from around here," he confirms with a nod "one minute I'm home in Brooklyn, the next here I am..." he waves a hand to indicate their surroundings with a shrug. He doesn't mention the whole 100 year time difference part, that tends to throw people for a loop so he doesn't like to drop it without warning.
"I assume from the 'also' that you ain't from around here either?"
no subject
“No, I’m not. Technically it’s 2019 for me, and I was definitely not in Florida. I just got here about a month ago.”
Which feels like both very long period of time, and like she had just arrived, at the same time.
“Are you liking it here? I’ve gotta say, I like your job, the dogs look so sweet.”
no subject
So the time difference for her was only about a year, which seems like it must have been a lot more manageable, and like most of the other people he'd met so far. Though he didn't know if there were other things that made this place different for her.
"I like some things." He admits, having a big apartment currently all to himself, hot baths whenever he wants, food readily available, the level of luxury here was beyond anything he could have imagined before "and yea, the job's pretty good. Not somethin' I ever woulda been able to do back home."
no subject
Like the sense of normalcy that she gets here. Initially the monotony was hard, not knowing what to do with it, but she'd be lying if she said she hasn't gotten used to it at least to some degree by now.
She smiles at the dogs. "They make very cute coworkers, that's for sure." She turns back to him. "Anyway, I don't want to distract you or them for too long, thanks for letting me interrupt you guys."
no subject
"An' they don't talk back," Spot agrees with a faint smirk "'less you count barking, and that makes more sense than some people's actual words, so they's pretty good to be around."
He shrugs slightly at the thanks, it had hardly been a hardship to stop and let the dogs socialise and actually meet a new person, and she seems nice.
"No problem. It was nice to meet you Allison."
