[ Eddie huffs out a little breath, pleasantly surprised. Partially, because that's a fucking cool memory, but also because Scott never mentioned he can do that, did he? Maybe he did...Eddie had still been pretty keyed up when they started talking to one another. They were, after all, part of the Dead People Club.

When he speaks, he sounds a little awestruck. ]

No, just lately, I guess. That was pretty cool. I'm Eddie. You're a friend of Scott's? He's a good kid.

[ He's the pack alpha, after all. And generally good guy. ] I'm Isaac. I stayed with Scott for a little while. Uh. Back home.

Isaac, nice to meet you. Welcome to probably one of the weirder things you'll ever experience. This coming from a guy who spent his childhood being terrorized by a child-killing clown from outer space

so I have a pretty high tolerance for weird, but sometimes this place...well. This is somehow happening. A little while back, a bunch of us were turned into little kids or maybe swapped out for our younger selves; I don't know, I'm dead back home, so I wouldn't know the difference. This place is a lot. It's easier with people you know from home, though, so you've got that in your favor.

Uh, back home there's a possessed, evil tree and a psycho ghost samurai trying to kill all of my friends, so.

[ Does that beat a creepy, child-killing clown? Probably not. ]

This place is pretty weird. I guess not murder clown weird, though.

[ He looks almost betrayed. ]

What the fuck, Laura, that's the coolest part! How do you leave that out?!

[Laura doesn't mean to laugh, but she laughs again while nodding.]

I can - and I guess I didn't think of saying it because it's not something that comes up a ton...and it's not one of the things that people usually ask about or hone in on in the list of what a werewolf can do.

[She shrugs.]

That shit feels like a missed opportunity, you know, because that's legit fucking awesome.

Uh, yeah. Not all of it because it hurts to do it, but yeah.

[ He shrugs. ] Sucks you can use it on yourself though. [ He might heal fast, but that doesn't help the whole pain thing. ]

I'd trade that for my thing in a heartbeat, still. That's awesome.

[ Caleb can help people, too, but he's not good at it. He's not even good at sorting out all the emotions, never mind figuring out how to use that knowledge to help someone, Adam notwithstanding because Dr. Bright helped a lot with that. ]

[ Isaac tilts his head, curious and a little wary. He's seen a lot in his short life, okay. ]

I'm an empath. Everybody has powers here, even the people who aren't Atypical back home.

Uh...I mean, even the people who don't have powers back home.

[ He pauses, looking sheepish. His mother would be appalled at his lack of manners right now. ]

I'm Caleb, by the way.

[ Derek's got a sad smile on his face. That first time he did it, it was for a stray that had been hit by a car and wandered out of the road and into the woods to die. He'd cried, too. ]

I wish I'd thought to teach you guys that...I'm sorry that I didn't.

Kinda like we were too busy trying to murder people, I guess.

[ It's not as sharp as it might have been months ago, but there's still something directly guarded in his expression. Sure, they started working together again there before he left, but it doesn't change everything that's happened. ]

But I'm glad I learned it. The healing stuff.

[ Derek stiffens a little at that. ...right, he'd almost let himself forget why he'd turned the pack in the first place. ]

I'm glad you did, too. A better Alpha would've taught you that a lot sooner.

[ Laura would've; Mom would've. ]

I'm sorry. For...everything. I hope you've been doing okay.

[ A tiny part of him wants to reach through the screen and shake Derek, and ask him why about everything. From the day he was given the bite to now, but none of it's all Derek's fault, really. He knows now that things in Beacon Hills get complicated fast, and they're all just trying to make it through to the next day. ]

It's, uh. It's cool. [ What's the use of fighting right now anyway? He lets out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding and wrings his hands together tightly. ]

[ Nodding a little, Derek looks down. It isn't fine; there's nothing fine about it, really, but what can he say? He used Isaac's vulnerability to target him. He turned him into what most people would consider a monster. He tried to turn him into a killer. And, while throwing him out of the loft was meant to protect him, how the fuck was Isaac supposed to know that when the only way Derek could think to make him actually go was to treat Isaac the way he knew Isaac's father had? ]

Once you get settled in, maybe you could come by the house for dinner sometime. My sister's teaching me how to cook stuff that doesn't just come out of boxes, so I can promise it'll be better than dinners used to be at the loft? Then, if the conversation is boring, you could play with the dogs. They love new people.

[Laura's smiling a little bit, she can't help it. She recognizes both Deaton and Scott in this memory and seeing Deaton teaching like that, and the reaction from the person whose memory that this was...it makes her think ofmemories o Deaton, her mother, and she just can't help herself.]

You were in really good hands with deatn - and even Scott - teaching you how to take pain away. I'm pretty sure most people cry the first time.

[ Though did she have to mention the crying? He goes a little red in the face. ] Isaac. I just, uh. Showed up here.

[Laura nods, warmth in her face.]

Yeah - Deaton a little better than Scott, but I've been getting to know him here. I should probably tack on I'm Laura Hale. Derek's older sister - probably not prepared for this at all, but welcome, Isaac. If you need any help settling in or have any questions I've been around a while so I might be able to help.

Derek's sister? [ She might need to repeat herself with all the helpful stuff, he's still catching up with his brain. ]

[She's both so different from derek, and widely known (in people from beaocn Hills, she's pretty sure) as being dead that she is patient.]
