WHO: OTA
WHAT: Eglaf Annual Earth Day Extravaganza
WHEN: Friday, April 17, 2020 - Sunday, April 19, 2020
WHERE: All over Historical Downtown Eglaf
WARNINGS: The whole premise of Friday's event is dub-con, so...you know. There's that. If you feel your thread should have content warnings on it, please say so in the soonest possible comment subject line.
Every year, the weekend before Earth Day, the city of Egalf has a three-day festival to celebrate centered largely in Historical Downtown. Eglaf was one of the first cities in Florida to pass Go Green laws and they're proud of their attempts as a city to reduce their carbon footprint. Each year, the line-up of events is about the same.
Friday night is a fundraising theme costume party, usually attended by any and all, featuring local celebrities and registered Displaced Supers along with raffles, meet and greets, autograph sessions, photo ops with Displaced Supers, local vendors, and more, located in Downtown Pride Hotel's ballrooms. This year's theme is "Getting In Touch with Nature." Party-goers will be turned away at the door if they're not in costume. No exceptions. Tickets can be purchased all week at the hotel or at the door. General admittance is $10 and admittance with dinner reservations is $25 per person. Group discounts are available; please call the front desk at Downtown Pride Hotel for details.
NOTE:This event is where things might get a little hinky this year. The portal being reawakened in January has been causing little issues around town, but the government mostly has this on lockdown. Unfortunately, it would appear that something new has made its way through. Earlier in the week, a small group of playful and mischievous fairies slipped through the portal. Learning of the Earth Day celebration and wanting very much to carry on its message, on Friday morning, locals and Supers alike might notice a sort of shimmer in the air. Spoiler alert: it's their version of fairy dust. Exposure to said fairy dust will have residents of Eglaf under the fairies' spell. They'll feel compelled to reduce, reuse, recycle, and be at the Earth Day fundraiser with bells on.
When the clock strikes eleven, though, that's when they'll decide to have a little more fun. Anyone still in their costume and within a five-mile radius of the hotel will believe themselves to actually be their costume or, in some cases, they will become their costume. So, if someone comes to the party dressed as a tree, they should be prepared to stand very still and be very silent while swaying in the wind for the hour during which the spell will take hold. This spell will last anywhere from 1 to 24 hours.
Saturday, there will be a parade featuring giant balloons, floats built by local businesses, and Displaced Super appearances. The parade will begin at 10:00 am and will follow the usual path down all of Main Street from Historical Downtown up to the upper east side before returning back to Historical Downtown. Typically, this parade runs two to three hours in its entirety. Then, Saturday evening will kick off the Earth Day Film Festival, where locals and Displaced Supers alike are invited to the Downtown Green, weather permitting (or the Oakdale Theater, if not) where the stage will be hidden behind a giant screen onto which Eglaf Community College short films will start things off at 7:00 pm and, by 9:00 pm, everything from nature documentaries to summer blockbuster films will be played back to back until the last movie is scheduled to end around 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
All concessions purchased at official events this weekend will go toward furthering technological advances toward making Eglaf run on clean energy.
Come one, come all! Have a great time!

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got til it's gone?

LAURA HALE | OTAs
Costume Party
Now that they're here, though, and Prim appears to be having fun on her own, Lydia decides it's time to mingle. Does she flirt with a couple of local guys hanging around the open bar so that she can get a drink without having to try her luck with a female bartender who's a lot more likely to actually look at the date on the ID Lydia presents than a male one would be? Yes, absolutely.
She spots Laura Hale a little ways across the room and Lydia smiles, threading her way through the crowd with a drink in hand. "You? Look freaking amazing," she says by way of greeting. Who would've thought she'd have found a friend in Derek Hale's sister? Having met Cora, certainly not Lydia, that's for sure, but she really likes Laura. "How's it going? Are we having fun, yet?" she asks with a smirk.

She can't help but return the sentiment, gesturing to Lydia's dress. "Green looks great with your hair and complexion." Laura is not shy, in the least, about sharing what she thinks, or giving a compliment - to anybody. Lydia is fun - she is both substance and style, which is nice to see and be around, truth be told. "It's going pretty well, I'm having fun, honestly, with the autographs and meet and greet and all of that - and I'm planning on forcing my date to dance a whole hell of a lot more later tonight, soo....." Laura laughs, telling on herself with her plan for the night.
"What about you - enjoying yourself? Done any dancing, met anyone interesting?" Laura asks, teasingly.

Lydia lifts her glass and grins, taking a sip. "Well, I didn't buy this for myself," she says playfully. Then she shrugs. "It's okay. For a party someone else put together, anyway," she adds loftily, smirking.

Laughing, though, Laura half searching Diego out in the ground, gesturing toward him. "Diego Hargreeves - he's in the greek god costume. I definitely conned him into coming, but have no regrets." Laura is sort of playing down the fact that it is sort of a date, but the way she brought this whole thing up to Diego wasn't exactly a romantic invitation, but still - they've been hanging out and have gone on some dates, seeing one another. She likes him a fair bit, anyway, even if they haven't figured anything between the two of them out, even slightly.
Snorting, Laura nods. "As you shouldn't." It doesn't really matter to Laura what age Lydia's at, given her maturity level, and everything else. So she focuses more on the fact that the redhead is at least somewhat enjoying herself. "I take it you throw a good party yourself, then?" Laura offers, grin wrinkling her nose ever so slightly with her laugh. "I'll have to remember to impress you when I get around to throwing a party, then."

Gasping slightly, Lydia's jaw slackens a little. "Stop it, tell me you're the one who talked him into that costume," she intones. "On behalf of all the straight women and gay men in Eglaf, I think you from the bottom of my heart if you are," she adds with another moment of seriousness, this time only partially feigned. Admittedly, she's actually a little jealous. Sure, for the time being, she's sleeping with Ben and she definitely wouldn't trade, but she'd be lying if she said she hadn't originally been hoping to get in with Diego. According to Girl Code, she's not allowed to touch, now, but she can — and will — certainly look.
"Oh yeah," Lydia says loftily, taking another drink and lifting her eyebrows as she nods. "I used to throw the best ones. You should absolutely call on me for help with that. Are you the type that likes to throw them? Because, if so, I feel like we're going to get along even better than I originally thought."

"So, what's first?" he asks, glancing over at her curiously. She was leading this little adventure, because Diego absolutely didn't want to be here at all. The only bonus to the whole party was Laura, if he's completely honest.

"Definitely dancing." Laura decides, grinning over at Diego - she didn't force him into doing a couples costume, but a vaguely Greek God one...well, he looks good, and it's not going to be a chore to dance or hang out with him throughout tonight. "Got some time before the volunteer activities and we're definitely making the most of it." Laura decides, for the both of them, holding onto Diego's arm comfortably as she takes in the lights and decoration. She doesn't necessarily need his arm with her heels, it's more that she wants to hold onto, or touch him, truth be told.
